CLEANING WITH ESSENTIAL OIL

Chemicals and poisons in today’s household cleaners can be hazardous to your home and family. When cleaning, you want to remove all of the bacteria and filth, but you don’t want your cleaners to add even more crud to your home.

Essential oils are a non-toxic, natural way to clean your home. They’re cheap and adaptable, and they’re great for personal care and aromatherapy. Essential oils are nature’s answer to all of life’s problems.

We’ll go over our favorite cleansing essential oils, their uses, alternative oils, and some recipes that include them. We also incorporate some of our other favorite natural remedies in the cleaning formulations, which you can read about here.

TEA TREE OIL

Tea tree oil, commonly known as melaleuca oil, is one of the most powerful cleansing oils. It is effective against germs, bacteria, viruses, and bugs. Indeed, research demonstrates that it can protect against influenza and norovirus. According to one study, it can even destroy the influenza virus two hours after exposure. This antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and the antiviral combination is the ideal treatment for combating harmful microorganisms that risk your family's health.

Uses:

Tea tree oil is ideal for general household cleaning. It is very effective at removing musty or mildewed scents from bathrooms, attics, and kitchens.

Recipe - All Purpose Cleaner

  • 2 cups of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 30 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 20 drops of tea tree essential oil

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle and shake to combine. Use a spray cleaner in the kitchen or bathroom.

CINNAMON OIL

Cinnamon has long been regarded as the spice of protection and wealth, and for good reason. It can help destroy dangerous viruses and germs if placed in your home. Cinnamon oil is antimicrobial and antiseptic, and it works well as a natural deodorizer. Nothing smells better than cinnamon in your home!

Uses:

Cinnamon is effective against mold, mildew, fungi, and other noxious microorganisms. It also works well against insects. We enjoy using cinnamon to freshen and purify the air.

Recipe - Mold Resistant Recipe

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • 20 drops of cinnamon oil
  • 10 drops of rosemary
  • 10 drops of lemon

Shake in a spray bottle to combine. Use on mold, mildew, and throughout the house.

PINE OIL

Many of your favorite household cleansers contain pine as an ingredient. It is effective against household germs such as yeast spores and E.coli. It also works well against mold and mildew. For a fresh, clean aroma, many people choose pine to lemon.

Uses:

Use pine oil to cleanse the home of bacteria, fungi, pathogens, and yeast. It also helps kill odors and purify the air. Use it on large surfaces, like walls and floors to clean and purify.

Recipe - Mold Resistant Recipe

  • 1 cup of distilled water
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 10 drops of tea tree oil
  • 10 drops of pine oil

Combine ingredients in spray bottle and shake to blend. Lightly spray affected areas of wall and wipe with clean, damp sponge. Rinse with water and dry.
