Sandalwood Oil Australia
The prince of woods is Australian sandalwood. Australian sandalwood is native to semi-arid areas of Southwest Australia, as the name implies. Australian sandalwood grows primarily in the wilds of Western Australia, in areas managed by the Western Australia Forest Products Commission (FPC), though plantations do exist in the state.
In recent years, Australian sandalwood oil has been used in a variety of high-end perfumes. While retaining the classic woody base note associated with sandalwood, Australian sandalwood has a distinct olfactory profile with a greener, fresher top note than Indian sandalwood, which is often described as more raw, earthy, and sharp. As a result, it remains a popular fragrance ingredient, with a distinct aroma from its Indian counterpart.
